The pedantic stat-heads often pontificate about how there is no difference between post-season at bats and regular season at bats, and that judging a player like A-Rod or Vlad by their post-season at bats is ridiculous because of the small sample-size.
But, are these at bats really the same? Stress and pressure have been proven through [...]

The Philadelphia Phillies made history on Sunday, and not the good kind. With a fitting 10-2 drubbing at the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Phils became the first franchise in the history of baseball to lose 10,000 games, flouting all previous touchstones of franchise futility. Their “accomplishment” begs the question, are the Phillies [...]

The Cubs announced today that Mark Prior would once again be placed on the disabled list. This time for an “exploratory” arthroscopic procedure. The translation is that he is feeling pain in his shoulder for which there is no visible cause. The doctors could be incompetent, Prior could be a hypochondriac, or, maybe, his arm [...]

1908 was a great year. The British Empire was at its height. The first long-distance radio message was sent from the Eiffel Tower. Henry Ford unveiled the first Model T autmobile. The Chicago Cubs last won the World Series.
The Cubs were an extreme disappointment in 2006. Their abysmal 66-96 record [...]

Brady Quinn’s favorite target Jeff Samardzija will not be joining him in the NFL draft this spring. The Notre Dame wideout caught 78 passes for 1,017 yards last season, and was projected to be a first round pick. Instead, he has signed a 5 year $10 million deal to pitch for Chicago Cubs, [...]
