In a move more telegraphed than a Skip Bayless contrarian rant, Chelsea have signed Portuguese midfielder Deco from Barcelona for £8m. Deco will unite with Portugal teammates Jose Bosingwa, Ricardo Carvalho and Paulo Ferreira under former Portugal Manager Phil Scolari.
Deco, 30, is considered one of the elite playmaking midfielders in the world, despite becoming a black [...]

Rafa the Gaffa has junked rumors of a £50m transfer budget to buy half the Spanish National team. The Liverpool manager reckons that he can fail to challenge for the Premier League title with more stringent purse strings.
Arsenal fans will have to wait to welcome Marseilles youngster Samir Nasri into the fold. The French international [...]

Arsenal will hang on to Gael Clichy (somehow not good for France), who signed a new contract with the club, spurning the amorous advances of Juventus and Roma. The Gunners also may send overrated target man Emmanuel Adebayor to A.C. Milan for a sum between £24m and £30m. The money would then be turned into [...]

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho may replace his replacement Avram Grant, after the club sacked him today following Chelsea’s defeat in the Champions League final.
Mourinho, not surprisingly, dismissed Grant’s performance at the club. ”After two titles per season for the last three years,” Mourinho told the Observer, “there were zero titles this season, which in my philosophy [...]

What the penalty kicks lack in fairness, they make up in compelling spectacle. In a solitary moment, men are made and men are broken. The poles of emotion hinge on one touch of the ball. John Terry could have walked off a champion. Instead, he skulked down the tunnel a teary-eyed goat, as Manchester United [...]

Any Boston Team: Since there has been a New England, it has been universally disliked. People have an active hatred for the education, the conceit and the image of the snobbish Boston Brahmin. There has been an upsurge of disquietude with Boston teams since they’ve been successful. The Red Sox have a large payroll. The [...]

It was a night to celebrate English dominance, or continental decrepitude, depending on your perspective. We knew it would be an all-Premier League final, the only question was whether Liverpool or Chelsea would move on to play Manchester United in Moscow. After a predictable 1-1 regulation draw, and an entirely unpredictable 2-1 extra-time, it was [...]

Liverpool and Chelsea are often blamed for sucking the essence and style out of football, and no player embodies that more than Dirk Kuyt. His work-rate is tremendous., his vitamins are in order, and he covers great ground. At the same time, he has the finesse of a demented walrus and is as pleasing to [...]
