Merseyside police cautioned Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher for assault, after an altercation on his way to Liverpool’s training ground.

Carragher, 30, argued with another man.  The man as well as an eyewitness reported the incident to the police.  Merseyside’s finest formally interviewed the defender, who accepted a caution for common assault.

Under British Law, common assault is the lowest form of assault, ranging from shoving to spitting.

As on the football pitch, Carragher will likely receive no punishment for his transgression.
