The Brett Favre for MVP campaign spearheaded by ESPN has now ended. In “the game of the season” which a few intrepid souls were able to see on the NFL Network, Mr. Mancrush laid an absolute stinkbomb. Favre was 5-14 for 56 yards with two interceptions before separating his shoulder.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp was arrested Wednesday in connection with a long running investigation into corruption in football. He was taken into custody upon re-entering Britain after traveling to Germany to watch the Stuttgart-Rangers Champions League match.

Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor died this morning at 5:30 AM, from complications resulting from a gunshot wound.

MGoBlog is reporting that Kirk Ferentz may be the next head coach at the University of Michigan.
The information comes from an e-mail from a source close to the Michigan Athletic Department. According to the e-mail, the deal Ferentz has accepted the job and an announcement will come within the next 24 to 48 hours.

The Dice-K marketing phenomenon has not come to fruition, according to the Boston Herald. Rob Bradford writes that the Red Sox have only earned $900,000 from Japanese advertisements, as opposed to the estimated $3-6 million earned annually by the Yankees and Mariners.

Alex Rodriguez had one of the greatest seasons ever by a right-handed batter. He hit .314 with 54 HR and 156 RBI. He had a .422 OBP and a 1.067 OPS. And, he did all of this while playing in one of the most unfriendly parks for right-handed hitters in the game at Yankee stadium. [...]
