Don’t Get Too Excited

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish won their first game of the season saturday, defeating UCLA 20-6 at the Rose Bowl. The win moves Notre Dame to 1-5 on the season.
The scoreline, however, is much more impressive than the performance.
The Irish still managed just 140 yards of total offense. Their longest scoring drive was an epic 29 yard march down the field for a 48 yard field goal by Brandon Walker.
They capitalized on astounding seven turnovers on the season, though not very well.
The win will undoubtedly receive much more publicity from ESPN than it deserves. God help us if they have “the greatest turnaround in history” and come back to finish 6-6 and qualify for a bowl game.
